Description
The person in this position is responsible for managing the fabric and trim area. In addition, this person would also be responsible for the research and development of technical fabrics and trims for our flame resistant and high visibility product lines.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development of technical fabrics within depth knowledge of the industry. Have a keen awareness of all that is going on in the personal protective apparel market from a fabric and trim standpoint and recommend options that are in Carhartt’s best interest.
• Lead the creation of documentation for technical fabric development, including fabric and trim specifications, test reports, and sales tools.
• Support the Sales Department, retailers and consumers with tools necessary to understand the specifics of our technical fabrics and trims
• Manage the Fabric and Trim area, including mentoring, training, and supervising associates.
• Actively participate in the development of business plans by product category.
• Develop lead relationships with Product Management, Marketing, and other Product Design Associates.
• Identify opportunity for process improvement.
• Lead integration of new technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in textiles, apparel, or related discipline is required or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years textile development experience, with some of that experience in the technical fabric development
- Previous management and supervision experience required
- Apparel, Retail, or Consumer Products industry experience required
- Experience with company(ies) with manufacturing operations and premium brand experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills required, including experience with MS Office
- Experience with WebPDM, AdvantaPlan, or other PDM/PLM software a plus
- Indepth knowledge of fabric and trim characteristics
